Had a great trip down to Ruidoso, NM this weekend. Took the non-interstate roads for the trip down stopping off at Harry's Roadhouse for breakfast in the Santa Fe area on Old Las Vegas Hwy.

The goal was to make it down to stop in for the Golden Aspen Rally held in Ruidoso Downs and hit The Buckhorn Cafe in San Antonio, NM for an award winning Green Chili Cheeseburger (not necessarily in that order).

It was a beautiful day with a brief sprinkle that didn't last nearly long enough to clean my windshield...  Huh

I decided to drop into Ruidoso the back way and cruise through Lincoln, Billy the Kid territory. Ran across this Torreon which I thought was pretty cool.

I was running a bit late and missed the town tour so I made my way down to the rally site.

This was an award winner (not for The Long Riders):

High temp was running in the upper 70's.

I stuck around for about an hour or so checking out the bikes, the vendors and then started to make my way back.

Nice sunset for the return trip.

It was just after 8pm and even though I may have wanted to sleep in my own bed I was not as dedicated as LD & HB. With these older eyes not seeing as clearly at night as they once did, I decided to stay the night in Socorro. I could have made it home by 11:30 or so but I was in no hurry.

Enjoyed the free breakfast at the Days Inn and headed out the next morning, weather clear and crisp, I blazed up I-25N with a stop off in Santa Fe for some essentials before the drive into Los Alamos.

Right at about 600 miles round trip and the new IS performed flawlessly.

Hey Jim, what about that Ada trip?

Oh NOW you tell me... Nope, missed em, maybe next trip. I'll have to go back as I'm sure I still missed plenty since I had originally planned on a same day round trip...  Undecided

I believe Blue Oyster Cult was gonna be playing at the Race Track later that evening.
