HI folks!  I'm new to the message board. Wishing I'd been with you all at Robbers Cave and Tucamcari but my husband's Valk was in Colorado all summer. Is it fair to leave him behind? Or should he have ridden b---- on mine?  Huh HA!  Anyway, he's looking for a different seat to ride long distance. Anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks! Beth aka Dragon Rider

Welcome Beth (DragonRider)..... Cheesy
Both myself and hubby love our Russel daylong... http://www.day-long.com/

They could move me up 5" closer to the tank on both of my valk saddles...
My hubby  has 3 daylongs... They really are not any more $$$ then the other saddles..
Plus they are a full custom for the rider...and corider if needed...
Corbin, Ultimate, and all the other saddle brands.....

I know  many other Valk riders that also LOVE there Day-longs....

Thanks Tracy!  I'll pass that on to my husband.  It's time for us to do some serious riding.

I'll throw my two cents in.  First of all, keep in mind that everyone's backside is made differently, so what works for one person might not be right for everyone.

I ride a Russell Day-Long like LadyDraco and Highbinder.  In my opinion, it is the very best seat made for the Valkyrie.  Buying one isn't as simple as going to a website and ordering online, but going through the process of ordering one is worth the extra effort.

When people ask me what I recommend, I usually ask a few questions first.  You said he wanted a different seat to ride long distance.  When you say that, do you mean a long trip lasting a week or more where you ride 300-400 miles per day?  Or do you mean riding 500+ miles per day, for multiple days?  If you mean the former, then something like one of the Ultimate Seats might work fine.  If you mean the latter, then you might as well save yourself the trouble and purchase a Russell and be done with it.

Back in July, I rode over 800 miles on the first day of my trip to Michigan for Inzane.  It was hot as hell, and I was tired as heck when I stopped but my backside did not hurt for a single mile of that days ride.  On any other brand of seat, for MY backside, I would have been in pain after 400 miles.

Thanks Scott. So far we've ridden just a few hundred miles in a day. But I'm preparing for next year mentally and physically! HA!  Thank God, Inzane is in Arkansas. But currently, that's a long ride.  So, either way, less or more than 500 miles per day, it sounds like a Day Long is a good buy.
Now, how about your opinion on a Mustang seat. Do they not make one for a Valk or is not a real contender?

We have a Mustang  saddle hanging on the wall....  Wink
Highbinder  .. Liked his mustang on his old Vulcan...
But never liked it on his Valk.. ( yes we have a  mustang Valk saddle )

I know some people that love theirs.... I think the one we have is for a larger person....

My butt hurts just looking at a Mustang seat.  If you can get one cheap(free maybe? Smiley ), try it.  Otherwise, don't waste your money. Smiley

cheap way to start out is to find a 2000 stock seat. I have not used a russell day long seat but I am excited about Inzane this coming year and hope I have a chance to maybe try one out. I have Ultimate King Big Boy seat right now and it does the job but I am still looking for a better seat. I am with Scott on the Mustang seats, FREE is the only way I would have one Cheesy Cheesy

That's why a Mustang saddle hangs on a wall in our shop ...
HB will NOT  put it on any of the bikes...

Gut as I said we have met people that like their Mustang saddle ....
But they are few and far between....
Ours came on one of the many Valks that we have owned /bought....

I still say Russell is the best way to go..... But that's JMHO
