As you probably noticed, our little website has been down for a day or two.  The server crashed and in the process, all data was lost. My backups are a month old, so what you see is what you get.  Sorry for all the lost posts.

It will take me a day or two to get things straightened out so bare with me.

Update:

1.  Main site, okvalks.com restored as close as I can remember.
2.  New photo gallery installed and all pics inserted.
3.  Forums restored.
4.  Event Calendar fixed and functional.

A couple of additions now that I've had some sleep. Smiley

If you registered for the message board since say christmas, we lost your info.  Please register again.

All posts since christmas are gone forever.

All the work I did on the main page, again, gone forever.

The photo Gallery has not been restored yet.  By the time it is, I will not have any hair left. Smiley

The Calender is broken again.

Somehow its all Gary's fault, tho I'm not sure how.....

Scott? Hair? I thought thats why you always wore a helmet.
But on a more serious note...that sux. what the heck did you do? Obviously not any routine back-ups. Bummer, just after all them great upgrades too. At least now you're a master at it and should be able to whip it back into shape in no time.

Ordered a new Ultimate Lowboy yesterday with the latest and greatest backrest. Hoping for some improvement in the backrest department. Already got my Bigboy adopted to a good home. Now for the Mustang.

Chin up ole buddy, the site'll be bling-blingin again in....well...maybe at least as quick as a Burple Valk?

Obviously not any routine back-ups.

Actually, I had weekly backups running on the weekends that were saved on the server.  However It became a pain to download 300mb worth of backup each week from the server.  Of course when the drives on the server died, there went my backups.  The hosting company had backups saved 'off server', but just files....no databases.  Since this message board, and the main site data is all in a database. Poof....out of luck.  I learned my lesson in a big way on this one.  Thou shalt save backups is my new motto. Smiley

As a sidenote, I think we'll be changing photo album software in this process.  Restoring Gallery is a nighmare I've been through before and don't feel like repeating.

In the end I shall have everything well documented, and backups at the ready. Cheesy

Lowboy huh?  Are you shrinking in your old age? Wink

Dwight, thanks for the kind words bro!  I look forward to the riding season and many new adventures this year!

I wish there was something I could do to help Scott.  I know you must be madder than a wet hen at the server people.  :x  I have DSL, if you would like some help with backups give me a shout.   Good Luck   Jim

Jim,  I wasn't happy to say the least.  But its my own fault as I knew what the backup policies were.  The hosting company has been great to deal with through this whole mess so I can't complain too much.  Its good to know you can get a response to trouble tickets at 3am.

I've got most everything back in order now with just a few details to work out.  As for the backups, this ordeal has greatly reduced the size of our backups.  I spent quit a bit of time resizing large files in the photo albums and the bazillions of old pictures I had stashed on the server are gone now too.  I'll be able to grab backups when I'm at work and stuff them on my USB pen drive for safe keeping(as well as a copy here at home).

I probably sounds crazy but I really do enjoy doing this sort of thing even if I do sound a bit frustrated at times.  I'm honestly more frustrated that the weather is looking bad for the weekend ride we have planned. Smiley
