I didn't see the Burple Valk lined up with the others in the picture.

Historically, if Scott is even thinking about going...

Nuff said.

Yep he's the rainman not me.

Gary a guy was telling me of some special diner or something at la veta with great burgers. He really wasn't sure it was LaVeta or the next town your way. This bring anything to mind?

Next town being Fort Garland. I've eaten at a couple places in Fort Garland, usually for breakfast but I'm not personally aware of any infamous burger joints. See if you can get anything more to go on. La Veta, like many of the towns around the immediate area, is a small place. I did notice a little spot right on the corner at the turn in La Veta that seemed to have some folks gathered about.

You & Rhonda have your Iron Butt details all lined out?

I think we do. Walsenburg (1018 miles) by way of Omaha. Leave here at noon head northeast to KC and Omaha. Head west to I75 and get to Sterling Co. (730 miles) area at 11 to midnite. Sleep 5 or 6 hours then off to Walsenburg by noon. That also makes us in the Denver area Sunday morning before 9, hopefully the traffic will be light at that time.

Piece of cake. You agree? We should be around Fort Garland for early lunch. We lose an hour and the 24 hours is up at 11 CO time. What are your plans on Sunday?

Night driving - you have better night vision than I. Usual warnings Watch out for the wildlife, day and night.
Sunday - no specific plans at this point. I was leaning toward a trip to Ignacio on Saturday for the Four Corners Rally. A couple hours of that usually does me fine and then back home.

Sounds like Wolf Creek Pass is still under highway modification with 1 to 1 1/2 hour delays according to the High Country Cruisers outing last weekend.

Well we will probably just park it behind one of the hundreds of Semi on the Interstate heading to Denver and let him light up the way for us.

Later,

Gary the place he was talking about is True Grits Steak House in your little burg. Is it any good? I'm sure we will need to hit Taqueria again.

Scott you want us to save the Mexican for Monday night?

True Grits is just as you come into town (Alamosa) when pulling in from the east. It intersects at 17 and 160. I've had a couple steaks there and its probably the better steak joint that I know of in town. Seems like its been there for awhile from the looks of it. Could be a good place to keep in mind if Scotts tummy is in the sensitive mode again.

Calvillos, the Mexican place, will be waiting. Some may just need to lighten up a bit on their helpings and number of trips back to the feed bins.
