Looks like a lot of plastic busted up. I'm sure it's only a few hundred dollars damage.
You feel sore today at all?
Raymond Mostly plastic, but the radiator is bent and I'm pretty sure it has a hole in it. I had coolant all over my foot and it was also leaking on my garage. A few hundred? I bet its a few hundred per piece of plastic to put it back together! I've got a bruise on my left foot where the beast slammed into me, but other than that...not sore at all. (Thank goodness!) -Scott

Damn IT !!! Glad you're OK and kept the bike upright. Just a question. How do you feel you would have faired if you were on the Valk? And in hind sight, what could you have done differntly to avoid the crash? Hope the repairs go well and don't break the bank! Take care of the bruise and Oh Yeah, CHANGE YOUR DRAWERS!!!!

If I were riding the Valk, I would have made impact at a higher speed. The V-Strom is lighter and has much better brakes. With that said, I doubt the incident would have turned out much differently. I could have avoided the crash by driving to where the deer was when I saw it, instead of trying to go around(ahead) of it. Its a natural reaction to do what I did I think...and there's no time to think...you just react how you react. -Scott

SCOTT WROTE: "by driving to where the deer was when I saw it,"[/size]Thanks for the feed back. That would have been the thing to do since deer seldom turn around go back the way they came. BUT even if you go behind it there's always the chance she has a fawn that will dart out right behind her. But the fact IS, It is the season and them damn forrest-rats are out in force, I've been seeing quite a few especially at dusk feeding in the right-of-ways. SO HEY! "BE CAREFUL OUT THERE"

Scott: Sorry to hear about your incident with the deer. If you remember Grace from the Robbers cave run 05, well she hit a deer coming to a rally at my house in June, totaled her Triumph Trophy and put her in ICU for a week because of broke ribs and punctured lung. The good news is she now has a newer trophy and is riding again.

Sorry to hear about the deer, Scott. If you end up selling/salvaging the Strom, and want to replace it with another bike you might check out the new GS. Pretty cool bike.

I looked at the new GS, and GS adventure last week as a matter of fact. Very nice bikes, and one of these days i might own one. But for now, I'll get the Strom fixed I think. By the way, got the insurance approved this morning and have the shop get started on the V-Strom tomorrow. Should be back on the road in a few weeks. -Scott

Did you have a lot of hassle with the insurance company? Who is doing the repair? Hope it turns out good and you can bring it up here for the wrench party.

No hassles at all. The dealership, Performance Cycles, did the estimate and sent it to my insurance company. The insurance company approved it, and is sending a check. Other than all that taking a few weeks, its been smooth sailing.
I am going to have Performance Cycles do the repairs. I just don't have time to mess with it right now, and so far I have confidence in them doing it right. I'll know soon enough if that was a mistake.
Performance Cycles is a Suzuki, Triumph dealer by the way. They are in Bethany on 39th Expressway. (way west of Maxey's)
