34  Sooner Valks / General Board / Looking for Fog light Electrician on: September 26, 2007, 07:44:54 PM
steve you will need to add a relay in your wiring
hooking any extra lights/electric draw  to your headlight wiring will burn out your starter button/switch. All juice for your headlight runs throw it when stock
here is a link to how to wire it up
i learned the hard way before finding this

37  Sooner Valks / General Board / Identify this noise on: April 03, 2007, 07:09:12 PM
scott you mentioned that you noticed the noise when going up or down in altitude areas could it be possable that your gas tank is trying to equlize it's self finding a place/line to let out or in air, i would try the next time to stop and open gas cap for a sec to equilize pressure and then see if noise is still there after restart
38  Sooner Valks / General Board / mileage on: March 01, 2007, 06:41:07 PM

>ZIP:74107
REBUILT $199.95 EXCH 800-334-4045
i'm thinking of sending my old  unit in to be rebuilt all that was wrong with it was regulator wasn't working it would put out almost 20 volts when high RPM's of engine
thought others might be interested as far as a rebuilt unit sometime too
39  Sooner Valks / General Board / changing alternator on: February 28, 2007, 09:37:20 PM
for whom ever should have to change there alternator such as i did last night.  I found it much easyer to disconect the main ( large) power cable for the alternator from the top of the main fuse block on right side of bike and pull it out along with the alternator. Then change it from old to new unit before installing new unit in and just feed it back threw. Rather then fight to get that nut off unit in the bike and back on again
40  Sooner Valks / General Board / bought one on: February 21, 2007, 11:06:42 PM
bought one
thanks scott
41  Sooner Valks / General Board / alternator needed on: February 21, 2007, 06:17:29 PM
the regulator wich is part of the alternator on my 1998 standard is bad at idle 13+volt at higher RPM almost 20 volts. i checked bike bandit they want $518 for a new alternator,i'm not to crazy about the idea of buying a used onefrom ebay or other out of state sources. does any one know of a rebuilder shop that might be cheeper then new or other cheeper sources?
42  Sooner Valks / General Board / 1200 wing on: November 12, 2006, 07:59:29 PM
ronnie i had the interstate with the dark blue of that year, nice bike was fun till the great flood of '93 got it when i was in St.Louis.
As far as parts try Oz cycle salvage in ottawa,ks. I found parts for my valk there when i wreck 2 years age, The 1200 wing was built fro'84 - 87 so theres a lot out there and Oz salvage has one of the biggest yard of metric stuff you my find almost anything you want there
