The damnit Scott, make up your mind Official plan.

Feb. 7
Riders Depart OKC for Colbert, Ok around 9am
Arrive Colbert, Ok, eat lunch at Wendy's Catfish(12:30pm), receive banner.

Wendy's Catfish: Go west on Hwy 91 from Colbert 3 miles, as the main road curves south across the Dennison Dam, continue on straight. Its right next to a Phillips 66 gas Station. Details here.

Depart from Colbert, head back to OKC.
Visit Bombing memorial for pics.

4pm:   The group will head to Bricktown and locate ourselves in the parking area between Chelino's and Abuelo's. (Unless someone suggests a better place.)  Anyone who wants to meet up with us is welcome.  If its cold and you wanna cage it, feel free to come down!

Feb. 8

Depart for Ft. Smith - 9:00am
Arrive McDonalds and pass off the Banner to Phil.
Depart for home when we're dang good and ready.

Meeting place in Ft. Smith: McDonalds @ I-40 Exit 5 in Ft. Smith.

If you plan to meet up with the group somewhere along the route of either day you need to let me know so we can look for you or set up a meeting place.

Send me a Private message, or email if you need my Cell Number

I think the only problem could be the weather.  I guess I could dig out my old Idaho snowmobiling clothes,  if they'll fit.  LOL

Your exactly right Jim.....the whole plan might get thrown out the window.

1. Put on snowmobile gear
2. Pick up banner and haul a$$ straight for arkansas

Scott I would like to ride along with the group going to Ark. on the 8th. Not sure Janet will come along, will depend on the weather for her.
I'm not the person to ask about picking a restaurant, just ask those that went on the 2002 fall Talimena ride

Best plan yet Scott. Sounds good. Like I said count me in at least 1 of the days - if not both.

I don't live in the greater OKC area, so I'm open to suggestions.  If I had to pick, it would probably be at I-40 and Meridian.  South side of i-state......fuel on one side and IHOP on the other.  But that may not be convenient for everyone.

I just got a new pair of winter riding gloves today.  My theory is the more money you spend on cold weather gear, the warmer it will be when it comes time to ride!

I have rode the bike to work almost all winter so far (missed 5 days now) so I'll offer what works for me.

i wear heavy coveralls with a jacket under that on real cool days.
Top it off with your leathers.
Full face helmet
Heavy socks in waterproof (airtight) boots
Best pair of gloves you have.
Stick another pair of gloves under the armpits inside and switch as the gloves get cold.

Use lots of chapstick as my lips have been cracked almost all of this month.

RIDE FAST.
I hope you all get a warm front in for the relay.

Someone asked this question in an email, and I thought it was worth asking of the group thats riding.

Does it make sense to ride back to OKC on saturday, instead of riding on to Ft. Smith from Colbert?  Its a little less than 400 miles from OKC to Colbert to Ft. Smith.  Than stay overnight in Ft. Smith for ride home Sunday? Or some variation of this?

It makes no difference to me.  I'll do whatever the group wants to do. Lets here some coments....

Scott, either plan is OK by me, but let me toss out these items for consideration.

First, there was some discussion about a group picture with the banner at the OKC bombing memorial, so we need to decide if that's important enough to warrant a trip back to OKC Saturday night.

Second, there may be OKC area riders who might want to join us Saturday at Bricktown (or wherever) but can't make the ride.

Finally, if we leave from Colbert that might not accomodate riders who can ride either Saturday or Sunday, but not both.

As I said, either is fine with me - I just raise these points for discussion.

Thanks --

I guess those are some of the main issues. Is there much of a turnout planned in OKC for the return with banner vs saving the 150 mile or so trip back to the city?

Also the Memorial Site photo shoot. The question being is that the indeed the selected shot and site for the Sooner Valks? If so then no further discussion is needed. If not, select another location. I'm sure there will be decent shots along the way in any event.
